Amitabh Bachchan Purchases 2.67-Acre Land Parcel Near HoABL's The Sarayu, Ayodhya, for ₹35 Crore

Bachchan Expands Ayodhya Footprint with ₹35 Crore Land Purchase at The Sarayu

In March 2026, Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan expanded his real estate footprint in Ayodhya, home to the Ram Mandir, by purchasing a 2.67-acre land parcel for ₹35 crore from The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL). The transaction was executed by Rajesh Yadav, Managing Director of AB Corp Ltd., on 6 March 2026.

This is Bachchan's third investment in Ayodhya and fourth plotted development purchase with HoABL. The acquisition marks a significant moment in the actor's portfolio expansion within the spiritual city, building on earlier purchases at HoABL's flagship The Sarayu development on the banks of the Sarayu River.

The House of Abhinandan Lodha and The Sarayu Project

Founded in 2020 by Abhinandan Lodha, HoABL develops residential plotted land projects and operates across 16 locations in India, including Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. The Sarayu, the company's flagship development in Ayodhya, is a significant component of HoABL's strategic positioning in one of India's fastest-transforming cities.

The Sarayu is a premium 75-acre plotted development by The House of Abhinandan Lodha on the banks of the Sarayu river, being positioned as a luxury spiritual-lifestyle destination and includes a Leela-managed vegetarian luxury hotel, clubhouse and more than 35 curated lifestyle amenities. The Sarayu Ayodhya is HOABL's flagship spiritual luxury project—a 51-acre integrated development with 30 acres of premium plots, 15 acres of residences, and 5 acres dedicated to The Leela 7-star hotel.

Ayodhya's Transformation as an Investment Destination

The city has emerged as a global hub for spiritual tourism, surpassing even the Taj Mahal in terms of tourist footfall last year. Ayodhya's real estate market is changing dramatically, with rising land values and growing interest in long-term investment and spiritual tourism; Ayodhya's land prices have increased at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19%, and estimates indicate that by 2035, this pace may reach 25%.

Backed by an investment of ₹22,875 crore, the focus has been on improving roadways, bridges, public amenities, and urban beautification across Ayodhya. This includes pilgrimage and tourism routes like the Panchkosi Parikrama Marg, Chaudah Kosi Parikrama Marg, and Chaurasikoshi Pilgrimage Route, many of which are already complete or nearing completion.

Context: The Sarayu's Growing Appeal to High-Profile Investors

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has purchased a land parcel worth around ₹3.31 crore in Ayodhya, acquiring a 2,134 sq ft plot at The Sarayu, in May 2026. Both acquisitions underscore the project's emergence as a destination for affluent investors and celebrities seeking early-stage exposure to Ayodhya's infrastructure and tourism-led growth narrative.

Luxury plotted developments, branded residences, hotels and hospitality-led projects are now emerging across Ayodhya as developers try to cater to affluent buyers, NRIs, spiritual tourists and second-home investors looking to enter the city early.
