Mashobra is situated within dense oak, pine, and deodar forest that is part of the Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the largest watersheds in Asia. The town also houses the official summer residence of the President of India.
The Hindustan-Tibet Road provides direct access to Shimla's heritage landmarks. The Shimla Railway Station (Toy Train) lies 14 km away (approximately 35 minutes by road), while the Kalka Railway Station (Broad Gauge) is 94 km away (approximately 2.5 hours).
